On Good Friday, April 19, the Chancel Choir will sing “The Weeping Tree” by Joseph Martin at the 7 p.m. service of Tenebrae.

The purpose of Tenebrae is to recreate the betrayal abandonment and agony of the events of Good Friday. The service is left unfinished until Easter Sunday.

Tenebrae is a religious service of Western Christianity held during the three days preceding Easter, and characterized by gradual extinguishing of candles, and by a “strepitus” or “loud noise” taking place in total darkness near the end of the service.
