Adult discussion group “Coffee and Conversation” at 9:00 AM on Sundays meets in the Wesley Room.  Adults (and youth!) are encouraged to gather and explore an issue from the news using “The Wired Word”, an on-line study guide with Scripture and discussion questions.  If you would like to begin receiving “The Wired Word” on line each week, please see Judy McCall or Meg Estrada. Come, join us for coffee and lively conversation.

Lenten Studies

11:45 a.m.  March 5th – April 9th

All are welcome to attend the All-Church Lenten Study that begins this Sunday at 11:45 in the Sanctuary. Pastor Mandy will lead the provocative study, Listening for God: Contemporary Literature and the Life of Faith, Volume 1 by Paula Carlson and Peter Hawkins.  A compilation of current American short stories, the book offers a study to help readers investigate current secular literature to discover how life and faith merge in surprising ways and places.

Sunday, March 5th study is Flannery O’Connor’s Revelation:  Listening for God in time of temptation.  Schedule for the following weeks are:  3/12: Frederick Buechner’s Dwarves in the Stable:  Listening for God in times offear; 3/19: Annie Dillard’s The Deer at Providencia/Field of Silence:  Listening for God in times of silence; 3/26:  Garrison Keillor’s Exiles/Aprille:  Listening for God in times we feel lost:  4/2: Alice Walker’s The Welcome Table:  Listening for God in times of abundance;  April 9, Richard Rodriguez’s Credo:  Listening for God when we believe.

In addition to the class led by Pastor Mandy, there are two other options to participate. Tori Nevens  is leading the study for Theology on Tap every other Wednesday, starting March 8.  The class continues on March 22, April 5 and April 19.  Meeting time is between 6:30 p.m. and 830 p.m. at Stillwater, 24701 Del Prado Ave, Dana Point.

Also, Donna Feeney will lead a group at her and John’s home, 29445 Drydock Cove, Laguna Niguel on Tuesday evenings, starting at 7 p.m., on March 7.  The group will meet weekly, using the same reading schedule as the Sunday study.
