Reconciling Ministries Network is a grassroots movement that seeks to mobilize United Methodists of all sexual orientations and gender identities to transform our Church and world into the full expression of Christ’s inclusive love.
We are discussing joining the Reconciling Ministries Network to publicly affirm who we already are as a congregation, to support our current members, and to provide a witness to encourage the United Methodist Church to change its discriminatory policies.
Practically speaking, joining Reconciling Ministries Network does not change who we are, but will allow us to use the Reconciling Ministries Network logo in our church publications and to be listed on the Reconciling Ministries Network website for those seeking an inclusive church family.
In order to further the discussion, in the coming weeks we will offer a number of informational events to which all are invited to participate so that your questions may be answered and all may be heard. This is to provide a safe space to express opinions, questions and wonderings, not to persuade, but to listen.
In addition, We will hold a congregational listening session after worship on Sunday, June 5, in order to see if we are prepared to move from conversation to decision. If not, we will continue to give this process the time and attention it requires to be done with care and grace.
